Can I have my pool filled by a water service?

We recommend using a garden hose under low pressure to fill in your pool. If it is necessary to use a water delivery service, it is better to fill the pool with 1 cm (0.4 in.) of water by hose and smooth wrinkles first. It is recommended to use a water service that is able to regulate the flow of water to prevent damage. Ensure you stop at each step as noted in the instruction manual to ensure your pool is level. Bestway will not be held responsible for pools damaged or weakened by water delivery services.
Can I set my pool up on uneven ground or on a different surface not mentioned in the Owner's Manual?

To perform the the air purge operation, follow these steps:
First step: after connecting the hoses, remove the plug and install the debris screen or open the connection valves.
Second step: open the purge valve located on the top cover. The air will flow out until the water flows out.
Third step: close the purge valve tightly to avoid leakage.
Fourth step: plug in the filter pump, and it is ready to work.
IMPORTANT: this operation must be repeated every time you perform any maintance operation.
Is it possible to partially or totally bury the pool without damaging the pool and/or losing the warranty?

Bestway Pools are designed to be above ground. To assemble your purchased pool, you must follow the instructions in the owner's manual. Partially or totally burying the pool results in the penalty of loss of the warranty.
What can I use to protect the bottom of my liner?

We suggest to always position a Bestway floor protector between the ground and the bottom of the liner.
What is a suitable surface for setting up my pool?

Almost any completely flat, solid and level surface can be used. Do not use sand as leveling material as it is prone to shift under the pool. The ground should be dug out until it is perfectly level. Do not set up on driveways, decks, platforms, gravel or asphalt. The ground should be stable enough to withstand the weight and pressure of the water. Mud, sand, soft/loose ground and tar are not suitable. We recommend not to drag the pool across the ground when moving it, to avoid abrasions and tears in the liner. If the pool has to be set up on a lawn, we recommend removing the grass underneath and around it, as it may wither and die causing unpleasant odors and/or slime.
IMPORTANT: Certain types of hard grass can grow through the liner, as can aggressive bushes/plants by the sides or through the pool. If this happens, it cannot be considered a manufacturer problem.
Please note that ground cloths, while designed to protect the bottom of the pool, will not stop any underlying vegetation from growing. Therefore, make sure to remove all hardy bushes/plants from the selected location and its surroundings before setting up the pool.
What is the maximum fill height of the pool?

Fill the pool with water after all assembly steps are completed and until the water reaches the welding line, which corresponds to 90% of the full capacity. Do not overfill as this could cause the pool to collapse. In case of heavy rainfall, we strongly recommend to reduce the water level to keep it at 90% capacity, to avoid overflowing of the water.
What is the recommended size of sand for Bestway Flowclear Sand Filters?

The recommended size of sand for Bestway Flowclear Sand Filter is from 0.45 mm to 0.85 mm. The most common type is Silica #20, which is available from pool suppliers and many mass merchandisers. Using the incorrect size of sand will cause the system to malfunction and void its warranty.

Why does the pump have to be under the water level?

The filter pump/sand filter is designed to be positioned on the ground. If the filter pump/sand filter is positioned at (or above) the water level, the motor will work without water. This will cause the filter pump/sand filter to be damaged.
Dismantling
Do I need to disassemble my pool for the winter?

It is strongly recommended to disassemble the pool for the winter. The above ground pools may collapse under the weight of ice and snow, which would greatly damage the PVC pool walls. We recommend disassembling the pool when temperatures fall below 15ºC / 59ºF.
How do I drain the pool (except Hydrium™ pools)?

To drain your pool, follow the steps below:
1.Unscrew the cap from the drain valve located on outside wall of the pool.
2. Connect the adaptor to the garden hose.
3. Place the other end of the hose in an area where the water can be safely drained.
4. Screw the hose adapter to open the drain valve. Note: water will start to drain immediately.
5. Disconnect hose and adapter when finished.
6. Replace drain cap on the outside of the pool.
Be sure the pool liner is completely dry before storing for a long period of time.
How should I clean and store my Bestway pool?

The pool must be thoroughly cleaned with a mild soap and water solution and carefully rinsed to completely remove soap suds and dirty residue. Make sure the pool is completely dry before storing it.
Fold the pool liner only if the environment temperature is above 15ºC / 59ºF. Store the pool in a dry place with a moderate temperature between 15ºC / 59ºF and 38ºC / 100ºF and position the pool liner and all accessories inside a carton box, to better protect the PVC material during the winter period.
The drain valve is too high to drain the pool completely. How can I get out the rest of the water?

The water from the pool flows through the strainer, up through the control valve, down through the sand, up through the collector hub in the center and out through the control valve back to the pool. Dirt and debris from the pool water are trapped in the sand and clean water is returned into the pool.
How does the timer on the Sand Filter work?

The timer on the sand filter has 9 different positions. Each position has different cycle. You can leave the sand filter connected to the power source, and the sand filter will operate automatically following the cycle you set:
Position 0: Off position (only available from 2024, without on/off switch)
Position 4: working time 4 hours / waiting time 20 hours (cancelled from 2024, replaced by position 0)
Position 6: Working time 6 hours / waiting time 18 hours
Position 8: Working time 8 hours / waiting time 16 hours
Position 10: Working time 10 hours / waiting time 14 hours
Position 12: Working time 12 hours / waiting time 12 hours
Position 24: Working time 24 hours
the below three positions are the automatic cycle, and it means that if you set one of these positions, the sand filter will continuously operate following the cycle.

How many years will the pool last?

There is no set time limit for the pools to last. Following the instructions in the owner’s manual and with proper care, maintenance and storage, you can considerably increase the life of your pool. Improper set-up, storage and usage can instead reduce it drastically.
How much weight does a ladder support?

Bestway has two weight standards for the ladders: 150 kg (330 lbs) and 305 kg (672 lbs), depending on the safety standards of the country. Bestway ladders are in compliance with all international and national safety standards.

Is it possible to use a timer with my filter pump?

If you installed the filter pump together with a chlorinator or a pool heater, be sure the chlorinator has already finished the set cycle or switch off the pool heater before the filter pump.
Is it possible to use a timer with my sand filter?

Is the Skimatic filter pump suitable for all Bestway pools?

What are the functions performed by the sand filter?

Bestway Flowclear sand filters have 6 functions:
1. Filter: This function is used to filter pool water and should be positioned here 99% of the time. Water is pumped through the sand filter, where it is cleaned and returned to the pool.
2. Backwash: This function is used to clean the sand bed. Water is pumped down through the collector hub, upwards through the sand bed, and deposited out of Port D.
3. Rinse: This function is for initial startup, cleaning, and sand bed leveling after backwash. Water is pumped downwards through the sand bed, up through the collector hub and deposited out of Port D.
4. Drain: This function drains water from the pool. Another filter bypass setting, water is pumped and deposited out of Port D, instead of returning to the pool.
5. Circulate: This function circulates pool water bypassing the sand filter. Use this function if the filter is broken to collect debris in the debris screens.
6. Closed: This function stops water flowing between the sand filter and the pool.

The condensation is created on the external surface of the pressure gauge due to the difference between the temperature of the water in the pool and the external temperature. The filter cartridge can be cleaned in the dishwasher using temperatures under 30 ℃ and without using any detergent or degreasing.
For safety reasons, since the dirty filter cartridge contains bacteria and other harmful substances, any other dish or kitchen item should not be washed together with the dirty cartridge. Be sure to sanitize the dishwasher before starting the normal operations.
Do you recommend using pool chemicals?

1. Do not use washing machines to wash Polysphere™ Pool Filtration Balls.
2. Hand wash only; if Polysphere™ Pool Filtration Balls remain soiled or discolored, replace them.
3. Check the status of Polysphere™ Pool Filtration Balls every 4 weeks.
How do I maintain the filter cartridge in my Skimatic filter pump?

How often I should perform Backwash and Rinse in Bestway Sand Filter?

If it reaches the red level, it means that the sand is full of debris, and the backwash function must be performed for 5 minutes. After that, rinse for 2 minutes. How often must the air be purged out from the filter pump?

If the pressure reading on the pressure gauge is over the maximum pressure mentioned in the user manual, it could be the time to clean the sand. Before cleaning the sand, check the following:
- If there is anything blocking the hoses
- If the connection valves are closed or partially closed
- If there is any hole on the hoses
- Turn off the sand filter and check if the pressure goes to 0
After having checked the above conditions, please follow the instructions on the manual to perform backwash and rinsing. If there is still a high-pressure reading, sand bed replacement is necessary.
What can I do if the free chlorine level is over 4ppm after test with the Bestway® Strip Test?

If the chlorine level is too high, don’t use the pool until the chlorine level drops below 4ppm.
To decrease the chlorine level follow the instructions below:
1. Unplug the chlorinator and then the filter pump/sand filter.
2. Drain approximately 20% of the water from your pool.

4. Run the filter pump/sand filter for 8 hours.
5. Test the chlorine level again with the Bestway test strips.
6. Repeat step 2 until the level of chlorine is between 2ppm and 4ppm.

1. Increase filtration time.
2. Check the filter cartridge one time a week and rinse with water. If the filter cartridge remains soiled and discolored, you should replace it with a new one.
3. The filter pump is not able to eliminate all bacteria in the water. The most important part to keeping the water clean is keeping the correct chemical balance in the water. Check with your chemical dealer to get the correct quantity and type of chemical to have the correct water maintenance.
What can I do if white flakes appear in the water?

The presence of white flakes in your water depends on the hardness of the water. Drain about 20 to 25% of the pool water and add fresh water to decrease the calcium hardness.

Which is the correct operation to change the sand in Bestway® sand filters?

Please follow these steps to replace the sand:
First step: switch off the sand filter and unplug the socket from the power outlet.
Second step: put the stopper inside the pool to close the valve. If the pool has connection valves, close them.
Third step: disconnect the hoses that connect the sand filter to the pool. This will make it easier to remove the sand.
Fourth step: open the drain valve on the bottom of the sand filter to drain all residual water into the sand filter body. To speed up the operation, position the control valve between two functions.
Fifth step: Open the top flange of the control valve and take it off.
Sixth step: Take out all old sand from the tank and rinse with a garden hose to be sure it is clean.
Seventh step: Fill with the new sand until it reaches the mark between Max. and Min. marked on the hub.
IMPORTANT: cover the hole on the top of the hub to avoid the sand going inside, and add the sand gently to avoid damaging the debris screen at the bottom of the tank.
Eighth step: Install the control valve and fix the top flange to close the tank.
IMPORTANT: when performing this operation, please be sure that the O-ring is in the correct position and completely clean from the sand.
IMPORTANT: Every time you change the sand in the sand filter, before using with the pool, you must perform the backwash and rinse following the instructions provided in the manual.
Why is the water turning white?

If the water becomes white, it is the chemical reaction between the chemical used and the quality of the water. Consult your chemical dealer to adjust the water condition.
Why isn't water flowing between the pump and the pool?

If there is no flow between the pump and the pool follow these steps:
1. Be sure that the socket has power and the switch on the pump is in the on position. Put your hand on the pump to feel the vibration of the motor.
2. See if there is anything that blocking the hoses.
3. Check if the control valve is positioned on the filter function.
4. Perform the backwash and rinse functions. Open the cap on the Port D and be sure that water flows out with power.
5. If all of the above operations function and the problem still remains, it is the time to replace the sand.
